KEY PROJECT ELEMENTS
Chasetown Civil Engineering was appointed by long-term clients Bloor Homes and Taylor Wimpey to deliver a new car park on a challenging site. The ground had been left exposed after previous site activity, resulting in poor formation conditions and uneven levels. As a trusted partner, we were chosen for our ability to manage complex groundwork and deliver high-quality infrastructure solutions.
Data-Led Earthworks and Construction Delivery
Our in-house earthworks team utilised drone-based point-cloud surveys to assess the terrain and develop a detailed materials management plan. This enabled us to efficiently control the movement of unsuitable material and import the necessary fill to achieve the required formation. Following this, we completed the civil engineering and surfacing works internally, maintaining full quality assurance through to project handover.
Stakeholder Engagement and Efficient Site Management
We implemented a just-in-time delivery strategy and formed a dedicated holding area on-site to avoid congestion on the main access road. Stakeholder engagement was central to our approach—particularly with the local school—when managing the Public Right of Way (PRoW) that crossed the site. Our collaborative ethos was also evident in our value engineering efforts, including entrance redesigns, surfacing adjustments, and product recommendations for long-term durability.
Successful Outcomes and Project Scope
The project was delivered on time and with Zero Harm, earning praise for our right-first-time execution. The completed works included a 3,392m² car park, over 1,000m³ of earthworks, extensive drainage and kerbing, and full installation of utilities and street lighting.
