OUR EXPERIENCE
Over 50 years of Civil Engineering Expertise
Chasetown Civil Engineering was established by Noel Sweeney in 1974. Today, we remain a privately owned company leveraging the benefit of over 50 years of industry experience and insight. We keep our clients at the centre of everything we do, remaining true to the founding principles on which the business was established. We view each project as part of an on-going relationship with our clients, listening to their needs, working proactively and collaboratively and always striving to exceed their expectations.
Our client base is broad and varied. We have strong and well established long standing relationships with local authorities, national housebuilders, infrastructure providers and adopting agencies, some of which date back to the formation of the company. The scale of our operations, combined with our founding principles, means that we are always able to deliver a solution, no matter how demanding, on-time and to our clients’ requirements.
Our Founder
Noel Sweeney founded Chasetown Civil Engineering in 1974 and created a business with people and family at its heart. Noel expanded the business further, launching Cameron Homes and in recent years, Keon Homes. Together with Chasetown Civil Engineering, they are part of Tara Group. This award winning construction group remains in the ownership of the Sweeney Family employing over 250 people and working with over 400 contractors.
As the company flourished and evolved, Noel’s values have remained at the core of what we believe. Throughout his life, Noel always saw the best in people and gave them the chance to thrive and succeed. He was passionate about creating a better environment, better opportunities and leading the way towards more sustainable communities.
When Noel died in 2020, it was obvious to all within his family and business that his unwavering commitment to helping others should carry on. The Noel Sweeney Foundation was set up to seek out ways to support local communities, charities and projects where we can make a difference.
More about the Noel Sweeney Foundation.
Wider Family
Chasetown Civil Engineering is part of the Tara Group, a family owned independent company, consisting of Chasetown Civil Engineering, and two further companies involved in the construction of housing. It was originally founded in 1974 by Noel Sweeney and remains in the ownership of the Sweeney Family.
With offices in Chasetown, Tara Group employs over 250 people across our group and work with over 400 sub-contractors.
Tara Group
The Group concentrates on infrastructure and groundworks, acquiring land, building sought after new developments, working in partnership with local authorities for affordable homes provision as well as delivering homes for the private rental sector (PRS).
Keon Homes
Established in 2018, Keon Homes works with Registered Providers, Local Authorities, and other partners to build social housing, in addition to building homes for private sale and the private rental market.
We fund land purchases, offer design, and build or build-only services and our land-led model will find, secure and purchase sites suitable for low cost housing, with support from our wide base of stakeholders built up through years of strong partnerships.
Cameron Homes
Cameron began designing and building individual homes in 1994. Our ethos was taking the right parcel of land in the right location and creating beautiful homes that our customers would fall in love with, homes that would blend with existing communities, enhancing the surroundings. A passion for build quality and an ambition to put our customers first, combined with family values of integrity, trust and pride – these were our foundations.
Our Community
Chasetown Civil Engineering takes pride in being an active and impactful part of the local community. From constructing a new Catholic Church and maintaining local schools to sponsoring football clubs and supporting community monuments, our contributions extend across many facets of the region. Beyond our projects, our team is deeply involved in fundraising challenges like the Jurassic Coast and Three Peaks Challenges, raising substantial funds for charities such as Sense, Spark Burntwood, and Birmingham Children's Hospital.
Our commitment to giving back is further reflected in initiatives like supporting DIY SOS: The Big Build for Children in Need 2023 and creating a sensory garden for Sense to honour our late founder, Noel Sweeney. In his memory, the Noel Sweeney Foundation continues his legacy of empowering communities and championing charitable causes, ensuring we remain a trusted partner not just in construction but also in community care and compassion.
