Junction Upgrade

CONTRACT VALUE

£1.5m

KEY PROJECT ELEMENTS

This £1.5 million project was a comprehensive infrastructure initiative designed to significantly upgrade and modernise a key controlled junction. The scope of work included extensive excavation, laying the groundwork for road construction, and preparing the area for critical utility diversions. These utility diversions were necessary to ensure that essential services, such as water, gas, electricity, and telecommunications, continue to function smoothly throughout the construction process.

In addition to the road construction, the project involves the installation of an advanced drainage system to effectively manage surface water runoff, minimizing the risk of flooding and ensuring the longevity of the road. The introduction of new traffic signals is another key component, aimed at optimizing traffic flow and reducing congestion during peak hours. These signals will be synchronized with surrounding traffic control systems to enhance the overall efficiency of the road network.

Pedestrian safety and convenience were also at the forefront of the project. The upgrade will include significant improvements to the existing pedestrian pathways, ensuring they are safer, more accessible, and better lit. New street lighting and signage will be installed, further enhancing visibility and safety for both motorists and pedestrians.

The creation of additional traffic lanes is designed to improve capacity and reduce bottlenecks, ensuring smoother journeys for all road users. The overall aim of this project was to enhance traffic flow, reduce congestion, and improve safety for everyone using the junction, from drivers to cyclists and pedestrians.
